Goose Lake Loop

A beautiful ride in the pine and aspen-covered mountains above Red River up to a splendid alpine lake. This ride really appeals to all-around mountain bikers. Right off the bat the rider is hit with a big hill climb. The climb follows an old mining road and lasts for almost 7 miles. The reward for that big climb is a beautiful alpine lake and a tremendous downhill run on beautiful singletrack. The climb up to Goose Lake is long, arduous, rocky, and steep. There is a fair amount of four-wheel traffic during the summer and early fall months. The downhill singletrack parallels Goose Creek through forests of dense, mature pines and tall, shimmering aspen trees. Early fall is a marvelous time to do this ride as brilliant pockets of golden aspen trees light up the dark green forest. Trail surface: Doubletrack and singletrack trails.
